In
the inaugural editorial of Unique Images Magazine, I did
a little bit of chest-thumping when I declared that
Unique Images Magazine was the first social magazine
that combined exquisite photojournalism with an intimate
coverage of social events. Since the publication of that
premier edition, the high volume of circulation and the
overwhelming affirmation of readers have lent credence
to that editorial statement. The African community has
been agog with news about Unique Images Magazine. Word
on the street is that the magazine represents a
hard-hitting African renaissance in social magazine
publishing. The timing of the publication has also been
heralded as ideal, coming at a time when Africans are
eager to celebrate their success in all walks of life.
But as we bask in the glow of the success of our
premier edition, we rest not on our laurels. Instead, we
are propelled to seek greater heights. We continue to
march forward in our unbridled pursuit of perfection.
And we remain cognizant of the fact that the pathway to
perfection is synonymous with constant adaptation and
attention to feedback. We value the comments we have
received on the premier edition. Incorporating many of
those comments has helped us iron out some of the
wrinkles observed in the premier edition.
In this edition, our manifested yearning for reader
feedback has prompted us to devote an entire page to
capturing and publishing your comments. This supplements
our interactive online outlet at
www.uniqueimagesmagazine.com designed, not only to
provide a foretaste of what awaits our readers in the
print version, but more importantly to enhance the
channel of communication between us and our readers.
Consistent with our penchant for blazing the trail in
social publishing, we have introduced some novelty in
this edition. We feature an exclusive coverage of the
launching ceremony of our premier edition in Boston. We
also stepped out of tradition to throw a soiree for
Africa's Best Actor for 2006, Prince Kanayo O. Kanayo.
You will read all about that bash as well as and our
exclusive interview with the Nollywood icon in this
edition.
Making a début in this edition is a column devoted to
young adults. This inaugural column was penned by our
young adult writer, Clement Onyia, a talented writer who
in his piece explores youth fashion and proffers
invaluable tips on how to be hip but decent.
While we have introduced new concepts and ideas in
this edition, we have not lost sight of our niche -
giving you loads of pages of fashion. I hope that you
enjoy this beautiful edition. Please accept my gratitude
for helping make Unique Images Magazine a staple at
newsstands.
